Laque Nail Bar
I made sure I did my research on the top nail salons to visit In Los Angeles. I’ve always wanted to get my nails done out there and I didn’t get my nails done prior to my departure, therefore it was priority.
After a long search for the top Nail salons in La I began to become discouraged because most recommended spots only offered services for natural nails. I do not rock my natural nails because I am a nail bitter, therefore enhancements assist me in ceasing that habit.
Thankfully, I was able to stumble upon Laque nail bar. This shop is owned my husband and wife, has two locations in Los Angeles, one in North Hollywood and the other in Beverly Hills.
I made an appointment as soon as possible and headed over there day after my arrival. I walked in and was thoroughly impressed. From the layout to the location, Laque definitely has it down packed when it comes to presentation!
My appointnent was scheduled for 12 and I was served as soon as I stepped foot in the door. I have never experienced quick service like this.
I made an appointment for a fill in and pedicure.Their peducure options are so enticing. You can choose to get a plain and simple pedi or one of the special pedicures located on their menu. Trust and believe I got a special pedi, I didn’t come out from the east coast to the west not to get treated like a queen!
They have an array of wonderful body scrubs to go along with your pedi. I chose the mimosa peducure special with the white peach sangria scrub. Let me just tell you it was beyond worth it. The the young lady who did my pedicure was so beautiful on the inside and out. She definitely kept me entertained and made me feel comfortable.
Mid way through the pedicure, the nail tech strolled over to start on my nails. They had me at this point when it came to service, because I truly felt like a princess. I just really appreciated that, instead of making you wait until your finished your first service they begin working on the next service to get the ball rolling.
I chose the most beautiful sea green color to go on my hands and feet. The tech convinced me to get matte finish on my nails. I was telling her that I’ve gotten matte before in the past and that it doesn’t last. She reassured me by informing me that Laque uses their own lamps and Matte top coats. She said that clients have it on for weeks and it doesn’t come off.
She was damn right! I’ve had this matte finish on for more than a week after my appointment and I have used oil and water on my hands since then and the top coat does not budge.
If anyone knows me, they know that my nails are a major priority of mine. With that being said, I fell in love with Laque so much that I wanted to move to LA just to keep going to this salon regularly.
I am so happy I got a chance to get the Laque experience, Until next time my loves!
On September 8, 2017, Rihanna launched her new makeup line “FentyBeauty”. This product line was designed to be inclusive and fit all shades. This isn't just about makeup it is about a movement. For years the beauty industry has set their own standards on how men and women are supposed to look. They decide to only capitalize off of what they consider is beautiful. Well, Ms. Fenty said forget society and their outlandish perceptions of what beauty looks like to them!
Ever since the launch, the brand has had major success. Not just because of Rihanna's celebrity but the message behind product. It is so much more than liquid lipsticks and concealer for the perfect brow. This is about making each and every individual feel comfortable in their own skin and not allowing society to convince them that they need to be in someone else's.
Krystal Robertson, a young woman with albinism, found her foundation match for the very first time. “Soooo… I had a small freak out today” says Robertson on her Facebook status. “My neck and my face finally match each other. Trying out the FentyBeauty foundation and primer today!!!!”
This is such a positive and inspiring experience. I most definitely can relate to this beautiful young lady and her sense of relief. Feeling like for once someone that has an impact in the community understands you and decided to come up with a resolution not just you but many others that are struggling with the world's petty standards of what beauty looks like.
I know that's how I felt when the dark skin frenzy started on social media. Although, I know everyone isn't 100% genuine when they represent or speak on chocolate beauty, it definitely gave me a break from getting so much grief for being dark skin. Feeling like my complexion was a sin from kindergarten to 12th grade was a horrible experience. Then when I decided I wanted to get into makeup, that world wasn't so friendly either. Therefore, seeing this young woman change the game for the better is uplifting.
I hope that this isn't just a trend and that society is realizing that everyone is beautiful and no one deserves to get belittled. Whether they are, thick , skinny, white, black, red, etc. no one deserves to be outcast-ed.
Funny thing is, this launch has influenced many mainstream brands scramble to market darker shades. When I first read about that on the website Blavity, I was disappointed but not surprised. I thought to myself, do not try to capitalize or make profit off my complexion because you view it as a “trend”. When it comes to the beauty industry there is no movement behind anything, it is simply about the dollar.
This is why I stand behind Rihanna and her brand because the motive is right. We appreciate you Robyn and love how groundbreaking FentyBeauty is and will continue to be. Please continue spreading your message and ruling out what the industry has set in stone for years, Thank you again love.
Such a talented and beautiful young woman on the inside and out. Blessed to have met this beauty her energy is amazing. She works very hard and sticks to whatever she puts her mind to. She is the true meaning of a makeup "artist" and instead of conforming to what those in her profession are already doing, she takes necessary steps and goes outside of the box. Li your creativity speaks to me and I have watched your artistry evolve. Continue creating and being marvelous my darling.
Being an artist myself, I have come to realize that most of us struggle to find ourselves and we may even feel alone when the going gets tough. We need to keep our heads above water, remember that time heals all, and that this process is nothing but the universes plan to guide us to an oasis of serenity.

I'm so in love with this young ladies artistry I had to share her work with all of you.
There is a "wave" going on right now in the make up industry and it gets so boring seeing the same outcome on everyone.
When I stumble upon artist that create their own sense of style and bring originality back to the table I can't help but show appreciation.
Continue doing what you do so well beautiful.
"Going Natural" ?
"Going natural" has become extremely popular the last couple of years and I know social media plays a large part in that. I am in love with all of my natural brothers and sisters; but the problem that I am having is whether natural hair is currently being glamorized because it's a cultural statement or because its trendy. Let me give you guys some background. information on "Afro Textured" Hair before we move forward. Afro textured hair is a natural hair texture that has not been altered by a hot comb, chemical, or flat iron. Depending on your ethnic group, your natural state of hair may differ from other ethnicities.
How about we go back in time real quick. Our ancestors have been experimenting different ways to style their hair before the 19th century. During the slave trade, the ideal way to groom went through many changes. After being captured Africans did not have the same resources to maintain their hair at a natural state. Most suffered from scalp related diseases due to their dreadful living conditions. As time advanced, our ancestors fell into the belief that straight hair was more acceptable. This ideology jump started the use of lye, egg, and potato, which in the future was turned into our modern day perm and relaxer used to straighten and/or flatten the hair.
Now that we're out of history class let's get back to the topic of discussion. There's no such thing as going natural my sister, natural is where it all started. Hence the word "Natural", meaning "existing in or caused by nature". Therefore, with all that's been said my brothers and sisters let's never forget where we came from. Going natural should never be a fad or a used for culture appropriation purposes. Instead we should flaunt what god gave us as a cultural statement and Beauty mark. Shall we never forget,

Little Boy Done Switched Up
My boyfriend and I decided to bleach my hair.
This is my first time bleaching and I had so much fun! His hair is already dyed blonde and I wanted to join the club.
We bleached it using Manic Panic's "Flash Lightening" bleach kit. Manic Panic sells vegan products which is healthier for the hair vs your average bleaching products.
Bleaching is known to damage hair. This instills fear which makes many refuse to use bleach ever again. No need to do that when you can switch over to using vegan products.
This is a life saver for my color freaks out there.
I definitely will be using again!

Kaelyn Roshon is one of my best friends and we always swap beauty tips. My biggest question for her everytime we get together is "How do you keep your hair so healthy?". I know I'm a baldie but a girl can wonder💁🏾. Kae shared some beauty tips with me about hair that I had to share with you guys, hope you enjoy!
Tips For My Long Hair Gals! As a young girl I've always had nice hair but with the styling and relaxers I used it wasn't at it's full potential and was more damaged than I thought. About 5 years ago I decided to go natural and I have a few things that stuck with my routine.
Full wash? I usually wash my hair every 2 weeks with Kera 1 Step Moisturizing Shampoo and 2 Step Ultra Moisturizing Shampoo. I love this shampoo because my hair can get pretty dry so it moisturizerizes my hair while leaving my hair with a fresh minty feel. Also it has natural ingredients that prevent hair from breaking over time.
Co-Wash? I allow 2 weeks to pass before I actually wash my hair with shampoo because I want to keep it from becoming brittle. Excess wear and tear can happen if you wash your hair too much. Although, shampoo is good for cleaning excessive washing can cause stripping🙅🏾🙅🏾.
How Do You Maintain Your Natural Curls? Wearing your hair curly does require using hair cleansing shampoo every 3 days. Hair cleansing shampoo is more like a conditioner that cleans your hair, but doesn't strip your natural hair oil.
Moisturizing? PLEASE KEEP YOUR HAIR MOISTURIZED! I can not stress this enough because if you want to see any growth and keep your hair healthy you just do this. The biggest mistake you can make is not effectively moisturizing your hair which leads to breakage faster.
Products For Moisturizing? I recently just started using Moroccan moisture products to moisturize my hair and I absolutely love it. Moroccan oil and tea tree oil work the best for my hair. PLEASE DO NOT USE COCONUT OIL IN YOUR HAIR. Research has show that coconut oil can build up in your hair and doesn't effectively moisturized your hair. Tea tree oil and Moroccan oil effectively moisturized the hair and also has a more light feeling. It also makes a wonderful heat protectant!
Styling? Ok so I made a new rule for this one. I use to flat iron my hair once every 2 weeks, to prevent heat damage . I do want to warn you that flat ironing your hair isn't what causes the damage, Excessive flat ironing on high temperatures causes the damage. A good flat iron is good once in a while but over doing can cause extreme damage to your hair which is a NO NO! When flat ironing, I first make sure my hair is properly moisturized. Light moisture can prevent a oily look and can prevent dry breakage after I finish. I use Moroccan oil heat style protectant before flat ironing my hair. Also, I always keep my flat iron on medium heat, never the high. Also, I do the same when blow drying my hair as well. During the time I don't flat iron my hair, I am either wearing my natural hair or using different techniques such as flexible rodding or Bantu knots.
Bad Hair Days? Instead of choosing to damage my hair from excessive pulling or styling because my hair does have moods, I keep my hair contained in a head wrap. It's many cute styles and also cute scarfs you can use to mask your hair while staying cute.
That's all I have! KaeKareBeauty Blog Coming Soon.

Straighten Without Heat
Why Did You Go Bald?
Okay, so most people think that I just woke up one day and decided to go Britney Spears...no that is not the case at all. Truth be told I never liked hair, I don't like it in my face, legs, under arms, and clearly on my head. I have been cutting my hair for years and getting it styled . The heat was damaging my hair, so I stopped putting heat on it and I stopped putting chemicals in it .
Summer July 2015 I had a short pixie cut. Until one day I was with my friend at a Carnival that got rained out . My hair curled into this gorgeous wavy pattern and that just showed me I was destined to go bald! I have been going to a barber ever since. For years I wanted to go natural but I was afraid to, now I am completely in love. I feel like a free spirit and I feel more in touch with my roots.
